How to create a Smartsheet Connection?

Step-by-step creation of a Smartsheet Connection, including linking it to a Smartsheet account.

In this tutorial, you will learn how to create a connection and link it to a Smartsheet account. This will allow you to define tasks that will run whenever you need them.

1. Click "Add Connection"

In the middle section of the "Resources / Smartsheet Connections" page, click the "Add Connection" button.

2. Click on the Name field

Now, select the Name field.

3. Type the connection name

Type the desired name for your connection.

4. Select the connection status

Select the connection status; it is set to Active by default.

5. Select the Time Zone

Select the time zone that the connection will use when executing scheduled tasks.

6. Choose the notification language

Select the language in which you want your notifications to be sent.

7. API Key or Token

In this field, you will need to save your Smartsheet API Key or Token; we will generate it in the following steps.

Go to Smartsheet and log in with the account that will host the Klon. Then, click on your profile icon.

9. Click "Apps & Integrations"

10. Click "API Access"

11. Click "Generate new access token"

12. Type the Token or API Key name

Type a name for the Token or API Key. It is recommended to use a descriptive name. A good idea is to identify it with the connection name or "Klonup Connection".

13. Click "OK"

14. Copy the Token or API Key value

Select and copy the Token or API Key value. Keep in mind that once you close this window, you will no longer have access to this value.

15. Paste the Token or API Key value

Paste the copied token or API key value into the corresponding field.

16. Click "Validate API Key"

Click on Validate.

17. Verify successful validation

Make sure the email address of the Smartsheet account appears to confirm that it has been validated successfully.

18. Click "Create Connection"

19. Your created connection is visible here

Your new connection will now appear in your connections list.
